COPYCATS
Recently there has been issues about copying of dance moves and stunts and choreography. I have a few points to add.
While people are not comfortable with the word copy, we cheerleaders know how difficult to exactly copy stunts/moves from the elite teams, it is obviously so as these are the elements that seperate the winner from the loser, and to able to copy those, it shows you have the quality, the quality to decipher how the stunt is done and the ability to do it.
I take pride if my team is able to do this, hopefully soon.
Some might argue that all these copying would eventually kill all creativity, but lets be honest, who is really that creative down here in this little red dot island. If one is so patient enough to study all cheer performance/competition routine in this country, is not hard to spot many instances of copying work.
Smart choreography is the key now, to be able to identify the strength of your team and choose the stunt that maximises visual and technical impact. Instead of thinking how to find creative ways to present a stunt? Why not use the time to increase the team technical level and shop the stunts from youtube instead.
We will respect/be proud of those who are able to do stunts we saw before and yet unachievable by us.
