Cheerobics
Like I said in one of my previous posts, nowadays stunts we do can sometimes be termed crazy; Backhandspring rewind to swedish falls, pop full twisting down, round-off to cradle reload to 540 gladiator. Then top front tuck down and mid cartwheel down move to next position. And all to be done with limited bases. No wonder we have to train like mad for just our warm ups - to get ready our stamina cum strength for this kind of crazy stuff.
So when things get harder, the success rate of it also decreases, so does the people who can do it. Some questions to ponder...
What should be the percentage of success during training before we plan to use the stunt in a competition? If we can only do one side of a very spectacular stunt, while the other side keeps failing, do we stick to use just one side of the spectacular stunt, or totally scrape it during competition? If one side keeps failing, do you try to change the bases or flyers around to test? Or you carry on trying because your ego tells you to? Which is better, splitting a strong pair of base and flyer, with 99% hit rate, to pairing up a weaker flyer with a stronger base with 70% hit rate and a stronger flyer with a weaker base with 70% hit rate? Or do you just stick with 1 less pairing and have a higher hit rate? Is it always fair to pair, those who work hard to become stronger and better, with those that are weaker and less trained, so as to make the stunt work or come up with more groups for tosses or PS? The stronger will have to train harder, while the weaker will train less, is this right? Shouldn't it be the other way round, where the weak should train more? Do we want to do the right thing or do we just want to get the best results? Should we judge whether a stunt feels good and what are the chances, or should we leave the judging to the coach? If you dun believe in yourself, but the coach have full belief in you and ask you to carry on trying, should you carry on? Is training long hours really going to be beneficial?
Too many questions and too little answers... I personally have no straight answer for each of these questions, an essay could be written for each question.
I just have these few sentences for all;
1. No one is perfect.
2. Sarcrifice for each other.
3. Listen to your coach.
4. The chain is only as strong as the weakest link.
