Franklin D Roosevelt once said " Ask not what ur country can do for you but what u can do for ur country" I used to think its a crap statement for political reason. However as time goes by, i realised the truth of this statement. Many ppl join this team for different reason, some wanna do cool parther stunts, some wanna build pyrimids, some wanna noe more girs...etc. The reason i stay on and wanna take up a leadership post in the team probably has to do with how much i care about my team. Having been thru the past 2 cheerobics and seeing how the team has come this far,it would really be sad if u know that there is no bloodline down the road. Therefore i would like to urge the seniors to impart as much skill as possible to the juniors during normal training and to up our juniors asap so that when u all finally take a break or retire, u will be relieved knowing that everything would still be fine.
I feel that in the midst of doing stunts or teaching stunts. We probably need to cultivate the urgency to spot esp the guy juniors. Somehow, this has never been a part of the training programme. Probably before learning stunts , we should emphasize on the importance of catching and how to catch as well as some drills. Things like trust fall can also be taught before they get down to learning stunts.
How to expect flyers to do stunts confidently if they cannot trust their base or spotter? So what if u can do a single leap or cupid when u are not there to catch her when she falls? Falling is part and parcel of cheerleading, but falling on the ground is definately not. Therefore i urge all seniors to put this as one of ur priority when teaching ur juniors
thats all i have to say
